Doug is the founder, president, and serves as principal engineer at Sperlich Consulting, Inc. His duties include design, project administration, contract negotiations, and all other facets of consulting engineering associated with the Company.

Doug serves as the City Engineer for the City of Hill City. As the City Engineer, he has overseen a number of water, sewer, and street infrastructure projects, including the associated permitting and funding issues associated with federal grants. The most recent utility and street project in Hill City required a bond referendum, in which Mr. Sperlich designed, administered, and inspected in excess of 2.5-million dollars worth of street and utility improvements over the course of the last 5 years.

Over the span of Doug’s career, dating back to 1972 he has designed and overseen the installation of 4-million dollars worth of water, sewer, and street improvements in Deadwood, South Dakota. He has designed subdivisions in Rapid City totaling more than 5,000 dwellings, including but not limited to:

  • Skyline Drive

Our Principal Engineer, Kale R. McNaboe, is responsible for project administration, contract negotiations, computer modeling, and all other facets of engineering design associated with the Company.

Computer modeling of water systems is performed using WaterCad and EPA Net software. Kale generated a water system hydraulic model for the City of Keystone for use in their water system expansion. Additional hydraulic models were created for community water systems such as the Cedar Gulch and Sheridan Lake Highlands developments.

Storm Water modeling focuses on use of HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS software, in the preparation of drainage studies, and the design of storm water detention cells. Kale has extensive experience dealing with federal agencies such as FEMA to obtain Conditional Letters of Map Revision (CLOMR’s), Letters of Map Revision (LOMR’s) and Letters of Map Amendment (LOMA’s). Design responsibilities include subdivision layout, preparation of engineering construction drawings for the design of streets, water and sewer mains, and drainage structures. Kale has designed and served as the project administrator during the bidding and construction phases of numerous projects.

Donna Miller is the head of the Drafting Department for Sperlich Consulting. She is responsible for the generation of topographic maps, street plan and profile drawings, note preparation, construction details, etc.

Additional duties include preparing property boundary maps, and the physical preparation of plats and exhibits.

Computer modeling is necessarily an important facet of the Computer Aided Drafting field. To that end, she has employed the use of the 2005 revision of AutoCad software, which when used in conjunction with Eagle Point software, has resulted in the preparation of clean and concise construction drawings and plats.

Jeff is head of the field survey crew with Sperlich Consulting, Inc. He is responsible for performing property corner searches, topographic surveys, and all facets of construction staking for the company.

Additional duties include computer aided drafting using the 2005 revision of AutoCad software, as well as Eagle Point software.

As head of the survey crew, his daily activities include using a TopCon total station, Trimble robotic total station, and TopCon GPS unit to accurately map and process field data.
